Downton Abbey Movie in the works with filming to start in September!

It's been two years (on ITV in the UK and over a year ago on PBS Masterpiece here in the USA) since the very last episode aired on TV of Downton Abbey's ( co-starred as Isobel Crawley) sixth and final season. Now, a movie version is finally happening according to UK's The Sun, who is both reporting and confirming that a movie is in the works for DA and filming is said to start in September. This is great news for DA fans (like myself), of course. Though, I wonder if the original main cast will return including Dames Penelope Wilton and Maggie Smith. We shall see.

THE movie version of Downton Abbey is finally in the works, The Sun can reveal.

The drama’s big-screen debut comes more than two years since the final TV episode of the ITV series, which attracted audiences of over 12 million in the UK.

It was regularly watched by 10 million in the US, despite airing on an non-mainstream channel.

In the meantime, a Downton Abbey exhibition is set to tour the world starting next month June 2017. According to this Deadline article last month, The multi-year international tour will begin on June 17 in Singapore and then travel throughout the U.S. in 2018 and beyond. The exhibition will connect fans with their favorite characters, costumes and locations, and feature never-before-seen footage. It will also offer a look at the post-Edwardian time period in which the show is set. Spanning World War I and the post-war years to the Roaring Twenties, visitors will have the chance to learn about British society, culture and fashion, in addition to historical events of the era.
