The Last Kingdom starring Matthew Macfadyen to premiere October 10th on BBC America!

BBC America just announced the broadcast air date for its upcoming 8-part drama series The Last Kingdom starring Matthew MacfadyenIt will premiere on Saturday, October 10th at 10 PM ET/9c. Deadline and the twitter account for The Last Kingdom both shared the key art for the series.

The Last Kingdom is an adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s best-selling series of novels “The Saxon Stories”, by award-winning writer Stephen Butchard, and will premiere later this year on BBC AMERICA.

Set in the 9th century, the eight-part historical drama is an adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s best-selling series of books The Saxon Stories, penned by Stephen Butchard,. 
Described as a contemporary story of redemption, vengeance and self-discovery, The Last Kingdom follows young warrior and outsider, Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), on a fierce mission to reclaim his birthright. The series will combine real historical figures and events with fictional characters during the reign of Alfred the Great, who as King of Wessex fought off a Viking invasion.   
The international cast also includes Rutger Hauer, Matthew Macfadyen, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann; Thomas W. Gabrielsson, Peter Gantzler, Joseph Millson, Alexandre Willaume, Rune Temte and Henning Valin Jakobsen.
