Here's the article for more info. via Variety:
After successfully adapting “Pride and Prejudice” and “Anna Karenina,” Joe Wright looks ready to adapt another classic literary tale as he is in talks to direct an untitled “Peter Pan” origin tale for Warner Bros. Plot details are vague but familiar elements from the classic children’s tale famous such as Neverland and Captain Hook are sure to play a part in the story. Jason Fuchs penned the script. Greg Berlanti is producing. Sarah Schechter will oversee for the studio
Despite numerous versions of the Peter Pan story (“Hook”, the 2003 Jason Isaacs pic “Peter Pan”), Hollywood still seems very invested in the character. Disney is also developing a prequel to the Peter Pan story called “Peter and the Starcatchers” with Gary Ross on board to direct and Sony is developing the pic “Pan” with Channing Tatum and Joe Roth producing. Not much as been heard about the Sony pic since it was first announced, and while some say “Starcatchers” will be Ross’ follow-up to “The Hunger Games,” development has also been slow so it seems that the WB project may have a leg up on the competition. Sources say Warner Bros. was very impressed with the most recent draft Fuchs delivered and made it a high priority to find a director quickly. Fuchs, who is repped by WME, originally sold the pitch to the studio and also become one of the busier writers in town. His other projects include “Clock Without a Face” at Paramount and “The Magic Catalogue” at Disney.
Though Wright is better known for his adult films, he is also attached to direct a live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” for Working Title, hinting that Wright is intrigued to tackle something that appeals to a younger audience.
