Austenland starring Kerri Russell coming soon!

A new Jane Austen related independent rom-com film titled Austenland (based on the novel of the same name by Shannon Hale) starring Keri Russell (Felicity, The Magic of Ordinary Days, August Rush) is probably still in post-production and is yet to be release (no release date yet) either later this year or early next year. A website for the movie says, coming soon (and looks like there's already a facebook page for the film, but it's not active and updated as of yet...)! It was financed and produced by Stephenie Meyer, the best-selling author of the Twilight series through her Fickle Fish Films production. AUSTENLAND” is a romantic comedy about 30-something, single Jane Hayes, a seemingly normal young woman with a secret: her obsession with Mr. Darcy—as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice—is ruining her love life; no real man can compare. But when she decides to spend her life savings on a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined.

And, in case you didn't know... as previously posted...

Director Nora Ephron to direct a film version of 'Lost In Austen'
Variety reported that director Nora Ephron (Julie & Julia, Sleepless in Seattle) will direct “Lost in Austen,” a film adaptation of a cult British TV series that aired on the ITV network back in 2008. The plot involves a 21st century London girl (who’ll be a New Yorker in the film), who magically switches places with the heroine of Jane Austen‘s “Pride & Prejudice,” Elizabeth Bennet, and tries to ensure that events unfold as in the novel, but soon finds herself falling for the handsome but surely Mr. Darcy.

No current news on the status/development of this new film version yet, but looks like a website's domain (www.lostinaustenmovie.com) for it has been set up, but directly links to Sony Pictures website, at least for now.

Plus...

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies still in-development
No news (other than it's still in-development and slated for a 2013 release date) at the moment on the new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which Lionsgate is releasing. The film is based on the tongue-in-cheek mash-up book by Seth Grahame-Smith, which is a re-telling of Jane Austen‘s “Pride and Prejudice” with a twist of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy fighting against zombies.

Three directors have left the long gestating project: Craig Gillespie (Fright Night), Mike White, and long-attached director David O. Russell (The Fighter). Emma Stone (The Help) was rumored to have been offered the Elizabeth Bennet role and said to have turned it down. According to Deadline: Emma Stone Not Doing 'Pride And Prejudice And Zombies'

Academy Award winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan), who was previously cast for the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet (but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts) is said to still be on board to produce this film through her production company, Handsomecharlie Films

In addition, actors Scarlett Johansson and Brandley Cooper were rumored to be cast in this film too, but apparently those were just rumors...
